Terminal Lucidity is a 2d platformer-shooter that follows a Monster Hunter character who must make his way through a train. Each train car houses a different Monster that the character must overcome in order to reach the front of the train. Unbeknownst to the player, each seemingly meaningless monster represents a struggle that one may encounter in life, such as depression, the fear of not fitting in, or imposter syndrome. The game as a whole is an allegory for going through life, and the monster hunter is supposed to represent the player’s inner self as they continue forward through hardship despite the difficulties it may present. Facing each challenge with animosity and bravery, the player reaches the end of the train and is presented not with a grueling final boss, but finally a sense of serenity and peace as they are invited to watch the sunrise through the darkness that had previously enveloped the train. This project was 100% human lead.
